How does online tutoring work?

Our online tutoring sessions take place in a secure online space designed for education with a digital whiteboard, similar to FaceTime. This allows for personalised, one-on-one sessions tailored to your child’s needs.

We offer a pay-what-you-can model starting at £15 per lesson. We also have an Opportunities Advancement Programme that offers subsidised or even free tutoring for those who need it most.

How do I pay?

Before your first lesson, we’ll send you a link to set up a direct debit mandate. We will automatically charge your chosen payment method for your lesson the day before it takes place. The processing time for the payment may vary depending on your bank.

In some cases, payments may be collected in batches every other week. You’ll receive an email notification a few days before the payment clears.

How do I sign up for tutoring?

You can sign up for tutoring on our website. We offer a free 15-minute meet-the-tutor session to discuss your child’s needs before you commit to any lessons.

Our Story

How did we begin?

In 2020, driven by a desire to address educational disparities and tackle wage-related inequality, Adrian and Socks, two dedicated students, established what would become NSEMM. Their initiative began as a YouTube channel called “Programmatic Flying,” which sparked interest in learning among viewers. This soon developed into a full-fledged tutoring service named TutorEagle.

As their vision expanded, they rebranded to NSEMM in 2023 to better reflect their mission. The organisation maintains its core values: all profits are reinvested to keep services affordable and accessible, enabling students to shape their futures.

What have NSEMM done in the past few years?

We have a strong track record of achievement in its mission to empower young minds and bridge the educational gap.

  • We’ve launched our innovative online mentoring programmes, which have helped hundreds of young people explore career paths and develop important live skills.
  • We provide free and subsidised tutoring to students – our lessons are much less than the industry standard £45 an hour.
  • We’ve had the opportunity to speak with esteemed figures like Professors Claire Stewart and Claire Sharpe, deans of education and medicine at the University of Nottingham’s Medical School.
  • As a disability-confident employer, we’re working alongside the UK Government’s Department for Work and Pensions to improve employment prospects for those facing barriers.
  • We’ve spoken directly with Members of Parliament (MPs) about the educational challenges young people in Nottingham face.
  • We’ve provided tutoring and support to students across the country, both in person and online, working with numerous schools.
  • Our media division have partnered with societies within different Students’ Unions, offering unique experiences like music arranging classes with world-renowned musicians and logistical support for their concerts.
  • Our media team has leveraged its expertise to support other community organisations and university societies by creating bespoke websites and solutions.
  • We secured an appearance on BBC Radio Kent during our founding year, helping us spread awareness about our mission.
  • We’re officially registered as a charity and recognised by HMRC. We’re currently working towards registration with the Charity Commission, demonstrating our commitment to transparency and accountability.

At NSEMM, we’re incredibly grateful for the diverse support that fuels our mission. This support comes in many forms, allowing us to deliver impactful programs and resources.

  • Individual Donors: We share a passion for education, mentoring, and media literacy with our generous individual donors. Your contributions directly support our core initiatives.
  • Grant Funding: We actively seek grants from charitable foundations and organisations whose missions align with ours. These grants provide vital funding for specific programs and areas of development.

We are fortunate to receive support from a variety of companies across different industries, including technology, finance, and education. These partnerships allow us to leverage expertise and resources from the corporate world to create a positive impact on young people’s lives.
