Our Approach

We’re more than just tutors.

We’re a comprehensive educational charity powered by students, enhanced by technology, and embedded in communities to close the education gap.

Student-Led

We started as two students with a YouTube channel, and we’ve never forgotten what it’s like to struggle with the academic pressures of school exams and UCAS applications.

University student tutors: So they can relate to exam prep (and stress)
Fair wages: We fairly pay our student tutors for their time and expertise
Non-profit: Our trustees and volunteers give their time to help our goals

Community-First

Instead of competing, we work with what’s already there by strengthening libraries schools, and community centres that families already trust.

Home advantage: Sessions online in places students already feel comfortable
Smart partnerships: We make existing services better, instead of competing
Local roots: Every area is different, so we adapt to what each community needs

Future-Ready

We actively research technological advancements in education (instead of just using it) working out how AI can help education without losing the human touch.

Science-driven research: Examining how tech is underutilised in parts of education
Built from scratch: Our platforms are bespoke to work seamlessly
Future-ready: Widening access without cutting corners or weakening standards

Beyond Tutoring

From creative projects to digital support for other charities, we’re building a network that supports young people from primary school through university and beyond.

We do a lot: Tutoring, uni application help, careers advice and more.
Helping others: Helping other education orgs with websites and know-how.
Looking ahead: Scaling what works to reach more young people nationwide

Transparent, Sustainable Education

Our pay-what-you-can model creates a transparent system that supports both learners and educators.

How it works: Families contribute what they can afford for our online sessions — even if that’s nothing — while our Community Education Network sessions in libraries are always entirely free.

Why we pay our tutors

We pay our tutors £13.68 per hour – aligned with the UK median earnings in 2020 (£13.68) and exceeding the voluntary Real Living Wage (£12.60 nationally, £13.85 in London). This fair rate attracts dedicated student tutors, recognises their essential labour, and ensures consistent, high-quality support for learners.

Every contribution supports free sessions for those who cannot pay, tutor wages, and new educational resources. It’s education funding that works for everyone.

100% of student receive completely free tutoring in libraries
£10.54 average cost of tutoring (vs £39+ market rate)
