We connect you with a tutor
We’ll contact you within 48 hours to discuss your needs and arrange a free introductory chat with one of our DBS-checked university tutors. There’s no obligation to continue after the free session. Because demand for our Community Education Fund is high right now, there’s currently a wait of around 8 weeks between registering your interest and your first lesson, so it’s well worth joining the list as soon as you can.

Our Learning Outreach Network ran free, volunteer-led, in-person tutoring sessions in libraries and community spaces, creating vital learning hubs in trusted local venues. It was previously known as the Community Education Network and was funded by the Cascade Grant.

It costs £15.07 an hour to deliver a lesson. What a family actually pays depends on their circumstances, and it always sits at or above one of three rates, never a fixed price: a full bursary at £0/hr, typically for existing families whose circumstances have changed; a reduced rate from £5/hr, reached through a few quick, private checks or a short conversation with our team when those don’t apply; or our standard rate from £18/hr, where families are welcome to pay a little more if they choose, which helps fund a place for someone else. Every application is looked at by a real person on our team, never a system alone, and it stays a private, one-to-one conversation. Nobody is asked to prove they’re struggling in public, and nobody is turned away. Read the full explanation of how we decide this.

Sessions are delivered online right across the UK, with in-person sessions in Nottingham coming soon. Online lessons use a secure virtual classroom with live video, screen sharing, and an interactive whiteboard – all you need is a device and internet access.
Every tutor is interviewed and DBS-checked before joining, and sessions are guided by qualified teachers from leading UK schools. Families can leave feedback after each session, which helps us monitor quality and support our tutors.
We will contact you within 48 hours – often sooner, including evenings and weekends – usually from a Nottingham (0115) number. You can request a specific call time, and we will arrange your free tutor chat from there.
Demand for our Community Education Fund is high right now, so there is currently a wait of around 8 weeks from registering your interest to your first lesson. We know that is not ideal, and we are working hard to bring it down. It is still well worth registering as soon as you can, since we contact families in the order they join the list and places free up regularly as sessions are funded.
Lessons are charged by direct debit the day before they take place. You will receive advance email notifications, so make sure your payment details are set up beforehand to confirm your booking.
After every session tutors submit a lesson summary, and your learning hub gives you access to session recordings, progress tracking, tutor messaging, and booking management.

Yes. All tutors delivering one-to-one online lessons are paid at the Real Living Wage and go through the same rigorous selection and training process to ensure consistently high-quality teaching.
