Mission and Vision
NSEMM exists to make sure a young person’s access to education is never the thing that holds them back, and to make sure it’s delivered properly while we do it: safely, fairly, and transparently, in a sector where price guarantees none of those things. Two commitments guide how we put that into practice: our mission for how we work today, and our vision for the world we are building towards.

Our Mission
We work across three fronts. Education is structured, curriculum-based tutoring and support. Mentoring is the personal relationship between a tutor and a student that goes beyond the syllabus. Media is free, scalable content, including Tutor Eagle (currently being rebuilt), reaching students we could never reach one-to-one. Three different ways of supporting a young person, in the classroom and beyond.

We hold all three to the same standard: the one this sector doesn’t require, and we apply anyway. When access to education isn’t shaped by what a family can afford, who they know, or where they’re from, students become architects of tomorrow instead of bystanders, and that is the future we are building towards.
Our journey
How we got here
It all started with two sixth-form students, Adrian Angol-Henry and Socks Ansell, who were passionate about making education more accessible. What began as a simple YouTube channel quickly transformed into something much bigger.

Programmatic Flying
We started NSEMM because we couldn’t afford tutoring ourselves, but needed the support to keep up at school, so we started making videos to help ourselves study. Other students noticed, and it grew from there. We launched our first tutoring services as Tutor Eagle in June 2021, helping fellow students navigate their studies.

Going Official
Incorporated Tutor Eagle Limited to serve students professionally. Our original business plan always set out a not-for-profit mission; the advice we received at the time was to incorporate first and then apply for charitable status, so that’s the path we took. We’ve since grown into the governance experience to run as a charity in our own right.

Shared our mission on BBC Radio, spreading the word about accessible education, helping more families hear about accessible tutoring support.

Met with deans of medicine and head of school at UoN about educational inequalities.

Becoming NSEMM
Evolved into National Society for Education, Mentoring and Media. Reflecting our broader vision beyond just tutoring to comprehensive educational support and mentoring.

First School Workshop
Delivered our first workshop at Skinners Kent Academy. Launched our direct school intervention programme, bringing educational support directly to students.

Became a Disability Confident Employer, demonstrating our commitment to inclusion.

Charity Status Achieved
Officially became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, after seeking advice that this was the easiest and safest way to formalise our charitable status.

Community Partnership
Official partnership with Nottingham City Council, launching free library sessions. Launched completely custom-built website in July, designed entirely in-house by our team.

A recent goal
Building a Dedicated Mentor Network
We aim to empower more young people across the United Kingdom by training a dedicated mentor network. These mentors will lead information, advice and guidance workshops in communities throughout 2024/25, fostering a love for science, technology, and innovation in the next generation.
