Common Questions

How much time do I need?

Most volunteers start with 2-3 hours a week. Some do more once they get into it, but there’s no pressure. For one-to-one support, we ask for at least a term’s commitment for consistency.

What support will I get?

You’ll get proper training, a dedicated contact person, regular check-ins if you want them, and access to helpful resources. No figuring things out alone.

Can I volunteer from home?

Absolutely. Online tutoring, mentoring via video chat, creating resources – lots can be done from home. Just need reliable internet and a quiet space for calls.

What about background checks?

We’ll need a DBS check for most roles. We’ll sort this out and cover the cost. If you’ve got a recent DBS check, let us know – we might be able to use it.
